Our eco-responsible commitments

Le Grand Hôtel is committed to a policy of environmental and social responsibility.

Our common areas, seminar rooms and bedrooms are designed to meet our commitments.

In 2024, our establishment will be a candidate for the Clef Verte. label.

An ideally located hotel

Thanks to its central location, the Grand Hôtel offers a unique experience for your stay in Strasbourg. Located less than 100 meters from Strasbourg station and the tramway, you can explore the city exclusively by public transport.

We actively encourage the use of bicycles, as Strasbourg is a cycling city par excellence. You can rent a bike easily with the city’s Vélhop service. We provide secure bicycle parking in the hotel courtyard.

We also believe in the importance of discovering the local culture and heritage of Alsace. That’s why we work with local partners and service providers to offer you a variety of tours and activities that will immerse you in Strasbourg’s authenticity.

A sustainably managed hotel

In the day-to-day running of our hotel, we have adopted practices that respect the environment.

We use gentle cleaning methods to maintain our hotel. We use a Vapodil, a steam cleaning unit and eco-labelled cleaning products.

In our rooms, you’ll find a natural-fiber comforter, Dodo memory foam pillows and a Simmons mattress to give you a restful night’s sleep. We’ve also chosen eco-labeled cleaning products in eco-pump form.

Recycling and waste sorting

Recycling and sorting waste is a priority for our hotel teams.

The breakfast buffet is carefully designed to avoid unnecessary packaging and waste. We are drastically combating the use of plastic and are committed to promoting a more sustainable approach to catering.

Our plans for 2024: We will be installing sorting bins for plastic, organic, glass and metal waste. We will also set up a recycling area for used batteries and light bulbs.

Water saving

To ensure more responsible use of this precious resource, water-saving devices have been installed on our showers and taps. Our toilets are equipped with volumetric flushes to effectively reduce our water footprint. We have set up monthly monitoring tables to control our water consumption.

We encourage our customers to limit the number of linen changes in their rooms, so that together we can reduce our energy consumption. By adopting these practices, we are committed to actively contributing to the preservation of natural resources while offering our guests a comfortable stay.

Our plans for 2024: In 2024, we plan to install water fountains in the gym for our guests and in the refectory for our staff.

Saving energy

With the environment in mind, measures have been put in place to minimize our energy consumption and carbon footprint. Interior lighting is mainly provided by energy-saving LED bulbs. Facade lighting is limited at night (switched off from 10:30 pm to 6 am). Electricity-saving boxes have been installed in the rooms in line with the customer’s cards.

For heating and air-conditioning, we have set up monthly monitoring of energy consumption. We are currently carrying out a carbon audit to measure our greenhouse gas emissions. This assessment will enable us to prioritize the points that emit the most and consider the scope of our efforts. The hotel has double-glazing in its rooms, seminar rooms and breakfast rooms.

Our plans for 2024: Gradual installation of window opening detectors in all rooms, a centralized technical management system and the installation of temperature control units in summer and winter.
